We are thrilled to announce that we have a NEW leader for Mess Around North Hertfordshire. Let’s all give a big Mess Around wave to Sonia who will be launching her first event in April in Stevenage.

Whilst on maternity leave in 2018 she began to look for fun things to do with her daughter and she struggled to find groups that weren’t just the usual ‘circle time’. She discovered a Mess Around session (held by Mess Around North West London) and was hooked.

We hear from Sonia about how she got started on her Mess Around journey and why she can’t wait to get messy at her launch event in April.

I have been a nursery practioner for the last sixteen years in a variety of private and state nurseries and from a young age I knew I wanted to work with children. It has always been a vocation for me, and never a job. I just thrived seeing the children transition as they learnt new skills.

After having my daughter last year I knew I wanted to make a change to spend more time with her. I wanted to find something I found fulfilling and worked around her and my family. Once I had been to a few sessions I realised that this could be my opportunity to do exactly that.

I loved taking my daughter to the sessions as the range of activities on offer is so varied. The children can explore at their own pace and as a parent I loved being able to do it all alongside her. The up-beat party atmosphere just enhances the fun!

I felt that working with Mess Around, it would allow me to create the work-life balance I am looking to achieve (aren’t we all). Of course, I was worried about going it alone- but I have found the whole onboarding process great. Everyone is so helpful and willing to help me whenever I need. The team share their knowledge and experience (which is great when you are still learning). I think the Mess Around family will be the best resource for the help and support I need along the way.

Quickfire questions:

Favourite Part of the session

  • my favourite part of the session is the finale of course! Who doesn’t love a dance and snow that actually doesn’t give you frost bite 😂 I’m looking forward to creating a stimulating and exciting environment for the children to explore. And I can’t wait to use my very own snow machine too

Favourite Messy Play Theme

  • Choosing a favourite theme is a hard one . I’d say it would be Halloween and Christmas. Just because I love a bit of fancy dress and any opportunity to do that as well as enjoying time with the family.

If you are ready to start your Mess Around journey- why not see if you can join a session nearby to you as a helper or even take your children along as a guest. It is a great opportunity to see the behind the scenes reality of running your own messy play business.
