From helper to franchise owner- Why Lucy from Mess Around Warwickshire was Born to Mess Around

We are thrilled to announce that we have a NEW team joining Mess Around Warwickshire. Our fantastic leader Kelly from Mess Around Birmingham, is expanding her area alongside her new franchise partner, Lucy.

Lucy started off as a visitor with her children to our messy play events, then became a helper and now, excitedly, will be working alongside Kelly to carry on our fantastic sessions in Warwickshire.

We hear from Lucy about how she got started on her Mess Around journey and why she was truly born to Mess Around.

I first heard about Mess Around through a close friend, who had been raving about the messy play events she had attended. So I joined a session and also attended Messberaver and I could see why she loved it.

I was thrilled when my friend Kelly, bought the Mess Around Birmingham franchise and I often helped with the set up and clear up of her sessions. I had been supporting her at her events for over a year and half.  I loved seeing how much others enjoyed the sessions, and the fact I could bring my own children along was even better.

Kelly from Mess Around Birmingham really inspired me. I could see how much she loved her business and she was so patient with teaching me all the practical side of running a session.

When the opportunity to run my own franchise came up, I jumped at the chance. With having 4 children (Evan 13, Chloe 11, Mason 8 and Coben 2) its tough to find work to fit around school life and the children’s hobbies. Mess Around fits perfectly with our schedules- if school is out my children come and play and lend a hand at the sessions.

It’s also been great hearing first hand from Kelly the support she gets as a franchisee from Mess Around and of course, with my ‘hands-on’ practical experience I know our business will be a success.

Quickfire questions:

Favourite Messy Play Activities

  • I love setting up our trays and being creative. Shaving foam, rice and spaghetti are probably my favourite materials!

Favourite Messy Play Theme

  • The Halloween sessions I supported with in October were fantastic. This has to be my favourite theme.

Snow Machine Finale Song?

  • It has got to be ‘We like to party’ by the vengaboys. A Mess Around classic!

If you are ready to start your Mess Around journey- why not see if you can join a session nearby to you as a helper or even take your children along as a guest. It is a great opportunity to see the behind the scenes reality of running your own messy play business.
