With the turn in the weather this last week we have been filling our days with some indoor activities and thinking of new craft ideas including making a little jellyfish family, including a mummy, daddy, big brother and sister and baby jellyfish!

All you will need for this is-

  • Paper Plate
  • Paper bowl
  • Egg box
  • Tissue Paper or strips of coloured paper
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Paint
  • PVA glue and masking tape
  • String
  • Googly eyes

We started by painting the paper plates, bowl and a small egg holder from an egg box and left these to dry.

Once dried I cut the plates in half (your little ones can do this if they are able to, it’s great practice for them).

We then applied glue along the straight part of one half of the plates

And then placed the strips of paper along the glue. For the pipe cleaners we used a small piece of masking tape to secure in place.

We then added glue to the top of this plate and placed the other half on top and pressed together to glue together.

For the bowl and the small egg cup we used glue as before to secure the pieces of paper and masking tape for the pipe cleaners.

We then added the googly eyes, if you do not have these you could draw the eyes on or use other things to make the eyes. We also added some sparkles to one of the jelly fish (the sister!) and then drew on their smiles.

Finally to add the string and make them into puppets or simply to hang them we used a pin to make a small hole in the top of the jellyfish and threaded some cotton through.

The boys both enjoyed making these from getting messy with the paint (I covered our table with old wallpaper so that once the plates were painted they could continue to enjoy the paint by covering the table), to glueing and then creating their faces. They are now proudly hanging on our lockdown craft wall (anyone else have one of these?).
