Cardboard Tube Parrots are so simple to make, little ones can be as creative as they want in this one.

Exploring through painting and sticking will get their minds and finger muscles working hard.

What you will need

  • Toilet roll
  • Paint
  • Scissors
  • Glue
    • Feathers
  • Googly eyes
  • Foam (small strips)

Messy Instructions

Step 1

Paint the toilet roll, this could be a solid colour or multi colours – we went for solid colours!

Leave them to dry for around 20 minutes.

Step 2

Using coloured foam cut out the beak and legs. We cut the beaks into little triangles and the legs we cut into 1 – 2 inch rectangles and then cut 2 ‘V’ shapes at one end. Jack choose to stick on triangle feet rather than legs.

Steps 3

Get creative! Stick on the feathers, eyes, beak and legs, Jack stuck his feathers to the back of the bird and Alfie choose to use his feathers as arms.

Leave them to dry round for around 20 minutes to make sure all parts are dry before you play with them.
